FURTHER TRAINING AND EDUCATION

Why do I need more training?

Although you may already have excellent qualifications from overseas institutions, sometimes it can help to undertake study locally, especially if “bridging” courses are available to fill you in on local industry information that you are not aware of.

Sydney Community College has a large range of accredited business courses that may help. Skilled Migrant Mentoring Program participants may be able to enrol in some of our business courses for free.

Enrolled participants may also be eligible for financial assistance to help with costs for accredited or industry recognised training courses offered by external providers.

GAP Training Scheme

If you locate a course that is accredited or industry recognised, and can be demonstrated to help you achieve employment that is appropriate for your skills, you can apply for financial assistance to help with the cost of the course.

The GAP Training Scheme offers up to $700 towards course costs for successful applicants. The funds will be refunded to the applicant in two instalments, on course enrolment and then final completion of the course. Conditions apply – to find out more download the GAP Training Scheme application form, see below.
